PROJECT INTENT

This project was quite an interesting one. An author came to me with a book that blended romance and early heavy metal but wanted to avoid stereotypes of the genre. I’d never worked in the romance genre before and thought this would be quite a fun challenge.

RESULT

While concepting the cover, I realized that avoiding all stereotypes of the romance genre would leave the cover unrecognizable for the core demographic. In working with the author, I managed to add the right blend of romance and other elements to the cover to create a jacket she was happy with as well as one that could be recognized by potential buyers. Initially the cover was designed for various eBook retailers and later designed for a full print-on-demand jacket.
